Concrete Molding Business

Concrete molding offers many opportunities in outdoor yard work.

During the spring and summer months many people love to work outdoors working on and fixing up their gardens and yards with fun decorations. Why not take advantage of this time of the year to offer a variety of outdoor decorations. Make your own and offer your creations for a great deal of profit.

Many different companies make casts, or molds, to pour cement into and make a variety of yard items that appeal to buyers. You can make small little creatures, birdbaths, statues, stepping-stones, bricks, planters, and many other fun items that people will want to buy from you.

The appealing thing about this is that you don't need to be a creative artist to create them. Just make yourself familiar with mixing concrete and using your molds to make the lawn and yard ornaments. If you are a creative artist it can't hurt though, you can design your own yard decorations and sell them right along with the more common ones.

To sell your items you can choose to sell them from your own yard, take items to fairs, swap meets, flea markets, and art fairs. Because they weigh a lot it will be a little more difficult to sell your items by catalog or online. That doesn't mean that you can't, but it is up to you.

You might choose to put together a catalog of your different concrete mold items and show the items from your catalog to small businesses in your area. Just take clear attractive pictures of your items and put them in a binder. Offer to deliver the items that they choose to buy. Nurseries will be the best places to seek out and offer your items to. You can offer your items to local tourist shops and gift stores too.

Buying and mixing cement is not that expensive so you can make a decent profit from your yard items. You will need to invest in the concrete molds to get started, but they are reusable.

Plant pots that are attractive and practical are always popular items too, so make sure that you offer these to your customers too. If you can offer them for low prices, you will sell them easily during planting seasons.

Once your business grows, look for a good spot to sell your items. Locate an area near a local well-traveled road, display your wares outside and it will be a great way to draw customers to your business. If you have a large area to display your items for sale you will notice that you will have regular customers that rely on your items regularly, especially if you keep offering new items all the time.

You can advertise your items in local newspapers and the local phone directories. Run regular sales of your decorations and it will draw more interest and help with your sales if they start to slow down at times.
