Professional Landscaping Business

Beauty is in the Hands of the Landscaper, Professional Landscaping is the answer.

While walking my dog the other day, I made an important discovery. My yard is boring. Of course it may not seem all that important, but having the ugliest landscaping on the block can be depressing. I needed professional landscaping help. I needed a landscape designer.

I don't have time to do yard work. I don't like to do yard work. In fact, I don't know the first thing about foliage, planting, pruning or trimming. A quick look in the yellow pages showed me there are plenty of people who do know these things and would be more than happy to help me out-for a price.

If you are a person who enjoys nature, has a creative outlook, and doesn't mind a little physical labor every now and then, you could be the one getting paid to dig in my dirt.

The biggest challenge in starting a professional landscaping business is probably securing the start-up money. Because most clients pay when the work is complete, finding funding for those first few jobs can sometimes be tricky. But if you start out small, you can quickly work you way into bigger, higher paying contracts.

Think of your first few jobs as laying the groundwork for your future. A professional work ethic, good communication, and unique style will cause your client list to quickly bloom and grow. Although the yellow pages may be the best advertisement for residential work, your finished product is your greatest source for high-paying commercial contracts. Once potential customers see your work, they will want to know who you are and they will be calling you.

One exciting aspect of the landscaping business is the continual newness of it. No two jobs are ever the same. Not only do you get to work with a variety of personality types, you also get to experiment with different terrains, textures, plants, tools, and natural resources. It is definitely not your average nine- five job. In fact, you may find yourself working some longer hours during the spring and summer. The payoff is the short hours you enjoy during the winter months. Don't think your winter months are completely work-free. This is when you hustle to obtain bids so that when spring arrives, you and your crews are ready to work. Some landscape businesses even offer services such as snow removal in order to maintain contact with existing clients and perhaps even find a few new ones.

If you have the desire and the drive, but think you may lack the knowledge it takes to design landscapes, check with your local college. Many offer landscape design classes. Also check out websites like http://www.elearners.com for the availability of on-line courses. You could actually study from home in order to start your work-from-home business. As a landscape designer, you will use your love for the outdoors and natural creativity to assist people like me who have neither. There are plenty of us around to keep you busy season after season.
